I use vintage film cameras, such as Leica, Rolleiflex and Hasselblad, and analog photographic techniques to provide a style that combines a fresh eye with a classic twentieth century look.
I am often asked why I use film to take pictures, and why I spend so much time with seemingly awkward and arcane mechanical systems that require a significant amount of thought and care to make a successful picture. But that is precisely the point!
These cameras are the products of a highly advanced technological art, in fact they represent its apex. As finely designed as expensive Swiss watches, they operate with remarkable precision. They feel astonishing in one's hands. I find them beautiful.
After the picture is taken, there's a whole chain of analogue processes to follow: developing, printing and framing. More on those subjects later.
